Learn about I-71

What is Initiative 71?

In 2014, DC voters passed Initiative 71, which legalized the possession, home cultivation, and gifting of cannabis for adults 21+ in Washington DC. Initiative 71 allows adults 21+ to gift cannabis alongside a separate goods or services transaction.

Urban Flavors DC is 100% I-71 compliant. You're making a voluntary donation for our delivery service — the cannabis is a gift. No recreational dispensary license is required for this model. We've operated under I-71 since 2017.

You must be 21 or older with a valid ID. Our drivers verify age at delivery.

Common questions.

How does Initiative 71 work?
Yes — 100%. DC Initiative 71 allows adults 21+ to possess up to 2 oz of cannabis and to gift cannabis under the Initiative 71 model. Urban Flavors DC has operated under this model since 2017.
How long does delivery take?
Typical delivery is 45–60 minutes depending on your neighborhood and order volume. We'll give you an ETA when we confirm your order via text.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash and Zelle. Our driver brings exact change if needed. Card payments are not available due to federal banking restrictions on cannabis businesses.
Do I need to create an account?
Nope. Just text us. No app, no login, no signup. We keep it simple so you can get what you need without friction.
What neighborhoods do you deliver to?
We deliver to all DC neighborhoods — Capitol Hill, Shaw, Georgetown, Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, Navy Yard, NoMa, Petworth, and everywhere else inside the District.
